LYONS

Mabel R. Ankney Lyons, 83, of Somerset, passed peacefully at Siemon’s Lakeview Manor on November 21, 2017. Born August 6, 1934 in Somerset Twp., she is a daughter of the late Edmund and Myrtle (Felix) Ankney. She is also preceded in death by her husband Donnie L. Lyons, and brothers Carson, Calvin, Walter, Raymond, and Robert; and sister Frances. She is survived by her step-daughter Cathy Lyons Kitting and husband Ken; step-son Donald Lyons and wife Alyce; grandchildren Kacy Lyons Smith, Cheri Kitting Miller, Paige Lyons, Russell Lyons, and Hoss Lyons; great-grandchildren Jennica, Ricky, and Mary Eden; brother Clyde “Chris” Ankney of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel was a homemaker. She enjoyed walking and stopping to talk with her neighbors. She loved to dance and play Bingo. Friends will be received from noon until 2 PM Saturday with a service to follow immediately at 2 PM at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, Pastor John Marshall officiating. Interment at Somerset County Memorial Park.

CHITESTER

Carol Joanne Chitester, 87, of Somerset, went to be with her Lord and Savior, and joined her beloved husband Ronald, on November 20, 2017 at the In Touch Hospice House. Born September 16, 1930 in Brookville, she is a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Witherow) Fitzsimmons. She is also preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Ronald Chitester in 1987; step-father George Carrier Sr.; and son-in-law Roger “Pudge” Purbaugh. David E. “Rabbit” Miller, 62, of Friedens, passed on November 17, 2017 at Somerset Hospital. Born February 9, 1955 in Somerset, he is a son of the late Paul and Shirley (Kendall) Miller. ZENTAY

Gabrielle Zentay, 84, of Rockwood, formerly of Irwin, passed on November 7, 2017 at home. Born April 9, 1033 in Budapest, Hungary, she is the daughter of the late John and Anna (Zsidakovics) Niederkirchner. She is also preceded in death by her husband Stephan Zentay in 2009 and brother Joseph Nadasvolgyi. Gabrielle is survived by her daughter Sheila Zentay of Rockwood; niece Anna Nadasvolgyi of Rockwood; and grandson John Fisher and wife Felicia of Acme. She was known for her cooking skills, and enjoyed making ceramics and collecting jewelry. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Somerset. A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Friday at St. Peter’s Church at 433 W. Church St. Somerset, Father Daniel O’Neill celebrant. Interment at Barron Church Cemetery, Rockwood.

HARTMAN

James E. Hartman, 50, of Somerset, formerly of Lancaster, passed on November 2, 2017. Born February 16, 1967, in Lancaster, he is a son of Helen (Hollinger) Walker of Berlin, PA and the late James Fitzpatrick. He is also preceded in death by his brother Darvin Hartman and sister Brenda Pennell. He is survived by his mother; wife of 35 years, Cindy (Huyett) Hartman of Somerset; sons Jeremy S. Hartman and Jason E. Hartman, both of Lancaster; and brother Kevin Hartman of Denver, PA. James was employed by Quality Spouting in Maytown. He enjoyed riding his Harley, four-wheeling, and riding ATVs. He was a member of the Elizabethtown American Legion Post #329. A memorial service will be held at a later time.

Larry N. Pletcher, 78, of Scullton, passed on October 31, 2017 at home. Born September 30, 1939 in Somerset, he is a son of the late Frank and Joanna (Gary) Pletcher. MARTINCSEK

Paul Martincsek, 81, died at Somerset Hospital on October 31, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Paul was born in Mezőberény, Hungary on August 14, 1936. He was a Freedom Fighter during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 fighting for his country’s freedom from the Soviet occupation. He came to the United States in 1959 with a sponsorship from Lutheran Services in America and became a dedicated and proud citizen of the United States. He married Wife Ilona in 1962, and the two would celebrate 55 years of marriage on December 1 of this year. They had two children, Stephen and Anna. Phyllis A. Rugg, 79, Somerset, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2017 after a brief illness.
Born March 17, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pa she is preceeded in death by parents Robert and Myrna (Orris) Head, brother Robert Head, husband Barry L. Rugg and daughter-in-law Christina Jones. Vaughn A. “Big Daddy” Worsell, 65, of Friedens, passed on October 21, 2017. Born May 27, 1952 in Somerset, he is the son of the late Howard and Lillian (Flick) Worsell. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Susan Worsell; and sister Judith Wright. Vaughn is survived by his sister Sherry Mostoller of Somerset; brothers and sisters-in-law John Diveley (Susan), Kathleen Ellison (Joe), Debra Fisher (Joe), and Jayne Jewart (Ed); nieces and nephews Susan Long, Linda Popovich, Nick Popovich, Katelin Rodriguez, Austin Knupp, Brian Critchfield, Dru Chiesa, Zachary Steinly, Kelly Katherin, Nicholas Jewart, Katie Jewart, Avery Jewart, and Sophia Chiesa; and good friends Ted and Dixie Hagans and Connie Weyant. Vaughn was a loving husband to his best buddy and wife Susan, and their loving puppy, Mollie. His sense of humor and crazy antics, as well as his caring nature will be missed greatlyby his family.
