Curtis Roy Haer Jr., 67 of Somerset, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at home. Born May 11,1950 in Garrett. Son of the late Curtis R. Haer and Carrie (Colflesh) Haer. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 44 years Sandy (Knopsnyder) Haer; sons, Michael Scott and wife, Renia (Rigo) of Somerset; Joshua Lee and wife, Kari (Lowry) of Somerset and his grandchildren Nolan Michael, Elizabeth Paige, Ryann Nicole, and Dallas Marshall and many cousins, nieces and nephews. His is survived by brothers and sisters, Shirley Oakes, Garrett; Frances Humbert, Somerset; Ray Haer and wife Linda, Meyersdale; Lois Cox, Meyersdale; Barry Haer and wife, Cathy, Rockwood; and Randy Haer and wife, Pat, Somerset. Curtis was US Army Veteran served in the Vietnam War. He was an owner/operater of C.R. Haer Trucking of 37 years.

After driving over the road for many years, he founded C.R. Haer Trucking in the water hauling business in 2008. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed the daily operations of his water trucking company. When he wasn’t working, his time was spent at the farm and taking care of his cows. He liked hunting especially ground hogs, fishing and taking his daily five mile walk to town and back. He was a man with a big heart, a very caring, giving man who would help anyone. He was not afraid to take a gamble at life, or its challenges. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A., lifetime member of VFW in Rockwood, and lifetime member of the Trent Rod & Gun Club. Family and friends received Saturday at 9-11 AM at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset with a service to immediately follow at 11 AM, Pastor Scott Ream Officiating. Military honors accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. At the family’s request in lieu of flowers, please make donations In Memory of Curt to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

    We would like to express our deepest sympathy to wife Sandy, sons Mike and Josh along with all of the Haer Family. It is with much sadness that I send this acknowledgement of Curt passing into heaven. My heartfelt loss of such a wonderful neighbor who expressed his love for life, family, and friends. His presence will always remain in our hearts.
