Danny L. Wingo, 64, of Garrett, passed on November 30, 2017 at the In Touch Hospice House. Born February 3, 1953 in Richlands, VA, he is a son of the late Bill and Juanita (McCoy) Wingo. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sally (Poorbaugh) Wingo; daughter Erica Wingo of Fayette City; brothers James Wingo and wife Susan of Hopewell, VA and Charlie Wingo of Petersburg, VA., and several nieces and nephews. Danny was a former corrections officer at the James River Correctional Center in Goochland, VA where he trained and worked with Bloodhounds. He later moved to Somerset County where he had a career with Gilmour Manufacturing. While living in this area, he developed an extremely close bond with Sally’s extended family to the point where he considered himself as one of them. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors in general. Danny was a gentle, kind person who touched the hearts of anyone around him, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. There will be no visitation or service at his request.
