Carol Joanne Chitester, 87, of Somerset, went to be with her Lord and Savior, and joined her beloved husband Ronald, on November 20, 2017 at the In Touch Hospice House. Born September 16, 1930 in Brookville, she is a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Witherow) Fitzsimmons. She is also preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Ronald Chitester in 1987; step-father George Carrier Sr.; and son-in-law Roger “Pudge” Purbaugh. Joanne is survived by her children Willard Chitester and wife Sandra of Flower Mound, TX, David Chitester Sr. of St. Petersburg, FL, Kelly Lytle and husband Michael of Confluence, and Robin Mostoller and husband Chad of Stoystown; grandchildren Jared, Seth, Kayla, Keri, Kasey, David Jr., Eric, William, Jesse, Acasia, Craig, Kalena, and Ruby; great-grandchildren Lydia, Ziva, Abraham, and Bella; and brothers Willard Fitzsimmons and wife Mary and George Carrier Jr., both of Brookville.

Joanne was the devoted wife and companion of Rev. Chitester, who assisted in his ministry in various capacities at several different parishes in Western PA over the years. She was a past member of the Beulah Kitchen Band and the United Methodist Women group. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved nothing more than to spend time with her family. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset. A service will be held at Beulah United Methodist Church at 9:30 AM Saturday, Pastor Tom Brown officiating. Interment at Knoxdale Cemetery, Brookville.
