Dorothy K. Walker, 94, of Rockwood, passed on July 1, 2017 at Meadowview Nursing Center in Berlin. Born July 4, 1922 in Rockwood, she is a daughter of the late Henry and Ada (Shultz) Knoll. She is also preceded in death by her husband Ream Walker in 2007; granddaughter Lisa; brothers Harold and Paul Knoll; sister-in-law Lucille Knoll; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Jean Walker. Dorothy is survived by her children Ann Brooks and husband Stanley of Rockwood, Judy Kreger and husband Kerry of Markleton, Kathy Hoffman and husband Tom of Berlin, and Mark Walker and wife Kathy of Rockwood;

grandchildren Eric, Melissa, Kimberly, Andy, Gina, Stephen, Jared, Julie, and Lee; great-grandchildren Matthew, Colt, Santana, Benny, Tyler, Alexa, Levi, Makiia, Mayah, Eli, Logan, and Ryan; great-great-grandchildren Lily and Noah; and sister-in-law Jolene Knoll of Pittsburgh. Dorothy was a graduate of Rockwood High School in 1940 and the Thompson College of Business in 1942. She was employed by the Somerset Bus Company, Somerset Trust Company, and the Somerset County Daycare and Child Development Center, from which she retired. She was a leader of the Laurel Hill 4-H Club for 25 years. She was a member of the New Centerville Fire Co. Ladies’ Auxiliary, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and she and Ream danced with the Wheelers and Dealers Square Dance Group. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in New Centerville. Dorothy’s father called her his “Little Firecracker”, and she has been a firecracker until the day of her death. She was also known as a firecracker to the personnel of Meadowview Nursing Center, who cared for her lovingly over the years. The family would like to thank Meadowview, Windber Hospice, and Dr. Craig Fockler for their service to Dorothy. Friends will be received from 4-6 PM Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church with a service to follow at 6 PM, Pastor Lee Gable officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, New Centerville.
