Christina (Chris) Marie Barnes, 60, of Somerset, on December 28, 2011, left her family and friends on earth to be with her loved ones in heaven with God after a three year battle with breast cancer.
Born October 21, 1951 in York,she was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Marian (Snyder) Laity, and Mother-in-Law, Virginia Barnes.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert R. Barnes, Jr. whom she was married to for 27 years. Also by her very
caring and loving children, Kimberly Ann Rayburg (Mark) and Robert III, and by her grandsons Alexander and Christopher who
brought her more joy and happiness that she could ever think possible. READ ON…

Edgar Eugene Sechler, 84, of Somerset, passed on December 25, 2011 at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown.  Born December 21, 1927 in Somerset Twp, he is the son of the late Fay and Margaret (Barron) Sechler.  He is also preceded in death by his son Jeffrey; sister Jane Stephens; and brother Calvin Sechler.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel (Glessner) Sechler; daughter Nancy Aultz and husband Brian of Somerset; son Eric Sechler and friend Wendy Chambers of Somerset; grandchildren Tamera Waggle and husband Darin, Brian Scott Aultz, Melanie Downing and husband Michael, Amy Zuccolotto and husband Adam, Mitzi Grove and husband Ryan, and Mandy Cummings and husband Dennis; great-grandchildren Zach, Jacob, Lucas, Avery, Liam, Chelsie, Aaron, Bella, Samantha, C.J., and Emily; daughter-in-law Wynne Sechler of Somerset; and brothers and sisters Maxine Leventry of Somerset, Ronald Sechler and wife Shirley of Somerset, Wilma Mostoller and husband John of Friedens, Kay Heist of Norfolk, VA, and James Sechler and wife Peggy of Somerset.  READ ON…

BERKLEY

John L. “Jack” Berkley III, 62, of Somerset, passed on December 22, 2011 at home. Born May 8, 1949 in Somerset, he is the son of the late John L. Berkley Jr and Ruby (Flick) Berkley. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Bonnie (Flick) Berkley; children Tangi Wilmouth of Carthage, MO, Terri Palacios and husband Balt of Huron, CA, Jacki Wheeler of Wellsboro, Jennifer Solis and husband Keiner of Macksville, NC, Jill Hartle and husband Tim of Taylorsville, NC, and Jodi Stutzman and husband Brad of Clarion; grandchildren Samantha, Andrea, Ashley, Amber, Haley, Claudia, Dawson, Cole, Monica, and Reeghan; great-grandson Bryson; and brothers Jerry Berkley and wife Patty of Justin, TX and Jeff Watkins and wife Linda of Glendale, AZ. Jack loved to hunt and fish, and was a director for the Laurel Ridge Sportsmen. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Somerset. A memorial service will be held at a later time. BRANT

June L. Brant, 96, of Somerset, passed on December 20, 2011 at the In Touch Hospice House.  Born June 6, 1915 in Stoystown, she is the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Brensinger) Zimmerman.  She is also preceded in death by her husband William Howard Brant, who passed in 1968; sisters Jessie Spangler, Viola Saylor, and Ruth Boyer; and  brothers John, Walter, Clinton, and Robert Zimmerman.  June is survived by her children James Brant and wife Barbara of Brotherton, William Brant and wife Barbara of Somerset, Sally Mattaliano and husband Terry of Michigan City, IN, Susan Rankin and husband Mark of Friedens, and Judy Fisher and husband George of Apollo; grandchildren Cindy Walker, Melissa Fox, Angie Klink, Mark, Brett, and Scott Brant, Jill Latuch, Paul Mattaliano, Coreen Smith, Joyce Mattaliano, Jarred Rankin, Colbie Baker, Corey Fisher, and Michelle Jankosky; 31 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.  June was a life member of the First United Methodist Church in Somerset.  READ ON…

DOMER

Earl E. “Butch” Domer, 64, of Bakersville, passed on December 17, 2011 at home. Born January 27, 1947 in Connellsville, he is the son of Earl “Jack” Domer of Roytown and the late Laura (Lepley) Domer. He is also preceded in death by his step-mother Betty (Gindlesperger) Domer, who Butch considered to be his mother; daughter Kayla Christine Domer; and son Douglas E. Domer. He is survived by his father Jack and his wife June; wife of 23 years Betty (Baer) Domer; sons Kyle and Edward Domer of Bakersville; daughter Sharon Barron and husband Donny of Somerset; grandchildren Deanna, Destiny, Odessey, Ciera, Bennett, and Hennacy; 3 graet-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Lee-Ann and her fiance Bill; sister Brenda Wiencek and husband Tom; and cousins Sandy (Lepley) Lensbouer and Debbie Lepley. Butch was a truck driver with 44 years as an independent steel hauler, and later drove for Super City Mfg. He enjoyed spending time and having picnics with his family and friends, and watching NASCAR Racing. He loved birds and bird-watching. Friends will be received from 2-7 pm Wednesday at MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, SOMERSET. A service will follow at 7 pm, pastor Gary Anderson officiating. Interment at Sipesville Cemetery.

KING

Paul E. King, 77, of Markleton, passed on December 14, 2011 at Meadowview Nursing Center in Berlin. Born November 2, 1934 in Casselman, he is the son of the late Melvin and Mary (May) King. He is also preceded in death by his wife Althea in 2008 and granddaughter Salina Hoffman. Paul is survived by his children James King and Gary King, both of Markleton, Janet Barron and husband Barry of Somerset, Glenn King of Markleton, Paula Raber and husband Steven of Jeromesville, OH, Ray King and wife Sue (Strelko) of Markleton, Wanda Armstrong of Meyersdale, and Blaine King and wife Charlene (Dickey) of Markleton; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers Sheldon and wife Joyce of Rockwood, Dale of Scullton, and Everett and friend Gail Snyder of Rockwood; and sisters Shirley Albright and husband Lynn and Mary Johnson and husband Barry, both of Markleton. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday at MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, ROCKWOOD, where a service will be held at 1 pm Sunday, pastor James Monticue officiating. Interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Markleton.

REAM

Marie J. Ream, 92, of Rockwood, passed on December 13, 2011 at Somerset Hospital. Born June 23, 1919 in Middlecreek twp, she is the daughter of the late Milton and Susan (Henry) Whipkey. She is preceded in death by her son Dean Ream. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Elwood Ream; children Ronald Ream and wife Priscilla, Lonnie Ream and wife Tracey, and Lois Leonberger, all of Somerset; grandchildren Melissa Slagel and husband Carl, Douglas Ream and wife Lori, Brad Ream and wife Mindy, Mark Ream, Terry Ream and wife Jamie, Rebecca Ream and fiance Don Drake, Lonnie Ream II and wife Christine, David Ream and friend Melissa, Kate Shaffer and husband Adam, and Bobby Leonberger; and 17 great-grandchildren. Marie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran (Barron’s) Church in Trent. She and Elwood were long-time farmers in Middlecreek Twp. She was a regular volunteer at the New Centerville Firemens’ Jubilee. She loved spending time with her family, especially the annual Ream Reunion in New Centerville, and enjoyed eating at Hoss’s Steak House. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, SOMERSET, where a service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, Pastor Will Osman officiating. EMERICK

Virginia I. Emerick, 70, of Pocahontas, passed on December 13, 2011 at the home of her daughter Virginia Catanese. Born September 29, 1941 in Cleveland, OH, she is the daughter of the late Paul S. and Virginia (Orr) Ocker. She is survived by her daughter Virginia Catanese and husband Jerry of Berlin; sons William Emerick Jr and wife Lori of Pocahontas and Wayne “Chris” Emerick and wife Sonja of Rock Hill, SC; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Trina Rambo of Daytona Beach, FL, Nina Griffith of Moab, UT, and Holly Allen of State Line, NV; and brother Paul S. Ocker Jr of Bangor, Maine. Virginia was a retired long-time employee of the Snyder’s Potato Chip Factory in Berlin. She loved to spend time with her family and animals, including her horses. Iva E. Legas, 79, of Rockwood, passed on December 10, 2011 at In Touch Hospice House.  Born February 14, 1932 in Middlecreek Twp, she is the daughter of the late Roy and Ida (Blough) Pritts.  She is also preceded in death by her husband Harry W.
